Ned Collette is an anomaly in Berlin… he’s lived here for years but he belongs to no scene, he plays across genres, but the core of his work resides in his songwriting. He’s performed with everyone from St Vincent to Deerhoof to Howe Gelb to Kurt Vile, but any similarities to any of them are imagined. His new double album ‘Old Chestnut’ is out in a couple of months, and sees him delving into a rich world of sonic folk and exploratory instrumental jams. On April 19 he’ll bring a band to Rotbart in Berlin to present new material alongside old, featuring longtime collaborator and drummer Joe Talia, bassist Fredrik Kinbom, and renown pianist from The Necks, Chris Abrahams, who also plays on the album.
